A Halloween Outfit for Work

A few weeks ago, while I was in Boulder, I got a chance to stop by a cute new boutique called Jovie that a friend recently opened. Their niche is designer clothing for tweens. While I normally prefer shopping in the adult section, Jovie's selection included lots of sophisticated name brands at amazing prices.

I picked up the dress I'm wearing in these photos, another pretty cobalt dress I'll be featuring soon, and some Joe's Jeans (they were only $49 full price!). If you're petite (or have a tween to shop for) and you happen to be in Boulder, I'd definitely recommend stopping by Jovie--they're on 13th Street, right off the Pearl Street Mall.

Snowcat & Cabernet

I decided to hop on the cabernet/burgundy bandwagon and picked up this pretty pleated blouse from LOFT a couple weeks ago during a 50% off flash sale. As of today, it's marked 40% off online (no code needed), as are a bunch of great work-friendly pieces that can do double duty as chic weekend attire. Other picks that fit the bill: the polka dot blouse from this post and this black dress (available in regular, petite, and tall sizing) that will be making an appearance here soon.

Occasionally, I feel like wandering through the Crewcuts (kids') section at J.Crew is worth getting a little bit of the side-eye from their sales associates. Case in point: the snowcat-print pants I'm wearing here, which were essentially the same as the adult version, but cost less, fit better, and had an adjustable waist. If you are a fellow boyish-figured petite and are feeling frustrated with too-long, too-roomy pants at J.Crew, I'd definitely suggest seeing whether a reasonable duplicate of the pants you want might exist in the Crewcuts section. UPDATE: these pants are now an additional 30% off the sale price at J.Crew, making them only $27.99 for the Crewcuts version and $48 for the adult version with code OURTREAT (and free shipping, too!).

Weekend Outfit: Chautauqua Sun

These photos were taken in the stunning Chautauqua Park in Boulder. After living here for several years, the Flatirons (those gorgeous mountains behind me) have a special place in my heart, and they are just beautiful in the fall. While I wasn't dressed for a hike on this particular day, it's a fantastic spot to go hiking. Even if you have a general aversion to walking uphill like I do, the amazing scenery is definitely worth it.

It was a gorgeous fall Sunday yesterday in Denver--bright and sunny, but cool enough to bask in the sunshine without getting too hot. It was the perfect day to sit outside waiting for brunch at Lucile's with a dear friend from college and her husband, who were visiting for the weekend (happy anniversary, guys!).

My family and I tried to squeeze one last lake day out of this season, and boy was it a windy one! I was happy I came prepared for chilly weather with my blazer and scarf. Forunately, the rain held off until we had closed up the boathouse for the winter. Although I'm sad to hang up my waterskis for the season, snow skiing season is right around the corner!
