Snow White (+ a Frye Boot Review)

j.crew 2013 outfits

Coat: J.Crew (or in solid colors here) | Shirt: J.Crew | Jeans: Joe's (similar here) | Sunglasses: Chloe | Scarf: Target | Boots: Frye "Melissa Button" (on sale in the color I'm wearing--burgundy brush-off) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar here | Necklace: LOFT (similar here) | Watch: Michael Kors

Quick review for you guys today! I'm loving these gorgeous Frye boots that recently made their way to me. I ordered two colors--both on sale--from Zappos (burgundy brush-off and dark brown waxy suede), and while the brown boots were lovely, these reddish-brown beauties were the clear winner.

I have wanted a pair of Fryes for a while and spent some time researching and trying on different styles in stores. I loved the Lindsey Plate and the Paige Tall Riding, but both were tall and wide at the top, so the proportions looked off on me. The Melissa Buttons were definitely my favorite--slim through the calf and ankle, but still roomy enough to wear them with skinny jeans and socks. The dip at the top of the shaft is very flattering, and their not-quite-knee-high rise is great for petite ladies. On top of that, they were comfy and blister-free right out of the box.

5 Ways to Wear Yellow Pants

[Click on each outfit for additional photos and details.]

One of my favorite things to see on the blogs I read is how other ladies re-style their wardrobes, especially when it comes to seemingly hard-to-wear pieces. (I'll also admit I've always been a big fan of People Magazine's "I Really Love My" feature.) I thought I'd share one of my own with you today.

I'm considering making this a regular feature. What do you think, readers? Do you love seeing re-styled pieces as much as I do?

Work Outfit: Dot, Spot, & Houndstooth

Coat: J.Crew | Dress: Ann Taylor Factory (similar in petite and regular sizing) | Tights: Nordstrom | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Nine West (similar style here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar here| Necklace: Ann Taylor (similar here) | Bracelets: Tiffany, Vintage, F21

Going through recent posts during my redesign process, I noticed I haven't posted a work outfit in a while! As I was creating this post, I also realized my work style has evolved a bit over the last couple years, from strictly no-nonsense suits and shells to more dresses and separates. I adore dresses for work as they tend to look neater at the end of a busy, stressful day--no rumpled jackets, creased pants, or untucked blouses to wrangle make for a happier and more put-together me.

The dress I'm wearing in these photos was a recent purchase at Ann Taylor Factory, and I love the way they turned this fun, graphic print into a work-appropriate dress that pairs nicely with a lot of the black and white pieces that dominate my work wardrobe. It reminds me of another Ann Taylor dress I own where a neutral palette was used to make a leopard print more work-friendly.

I'm so excited to finally be sharing my new blog design with you! I have been teaching myself the basics of HTML and CSS, and it's nice to be able to see the end product in action at (long) last. I hope you enjoy the new look as much as I do!

Shoulda Been a Cowgirl

Coat: Arden B. (old) | Shirt: Aeropostale | Jeans: Joe's (in girls' sizing like mine for only $39 or in women's sizing) | Gloves: H&M | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Belt: Arden B. | Boots: Nine West (old, similar style here) | Bag: Tory Burch | Necklace: Ann Taylor (similar here)

Rediscovering this old shearling coat of mine in my closet prompted me to put together a Western-inspired outfit for a long walk with my pup. He is getting so big already! Looking back at photos of him from a month ago, it's almost hard to remember him being so tiny. He's really starting to love walks, playing fetch, and tug-of-war--so fun!
