Hunter Regent Savoy Rain Boot Review

For all of you who know me well, you know that mornings aren't great for me (okay, yes, that's been nominated the understatement of the year), especially when they are rainy or snowy mornings. Seriously, what could be better than staying in, all curled up under your blankets, when it's gray and dreary outside your window?

Despite the dreary and uninviting weather on the morning we were supposed to go out and take photos, I was still excited to get a few blog shots with my new Hunter rain boots on, and they were great in the snow. My photographer, Katie, had always been telling me how frozen her feet would get in her Hunter Boots, but when I read some of the reviews of the Regent Savoy style, it seemed like they had some extra lining that kept your feet a little warmer. Lo and behold, there is a thin quilted lining in these that has been keeping my feet pretty toasty in cold weather. While Uggs they are undoubtedly not, the Hunter Boots are great for the wet snow or chilly spring showers that are just around the corner.

While I had admired the colorful line of traditional rain boots that Hunter has had available for a while, they didn't seem to work well on my petite frame. Once I tried on the Hunter's Regent line with its much slimmer and sleeker sihouette, I knew I had found the perfect rain boot. It was a tough all trying to pick which of the gorgeous Regent styles I wanted--I tried on the St. James, the Carlyle, the plain Regents, and finally decided on the Savoy with its quilted pattern.

Tip: if you do plan to order these online as I did, I would consider going half a size to a size down. I normally wear a 5.5 to 6, but I definitely needed this boot in a 5. If you're planning to buy the thick Hunter Wellie Socks with your boots, you should probably go down only a half size so the socks fit well. (Note: the socks don't fit wonderfully on the Regent styles because of their riding boot-type cut.)

  2. I can't believe you're still having that much snow where you live. It's in the 80s in the Midwest this week. Love your casual chic look (esp. your Hunter boots - of course). Enjoy the rest of your week!

  3. Your new boots are beautiful, Tam. Also obsessed with your earrings! I can completely imagine how difficult it would be for you to get up in the mornings -- especially living near mountains and surrounded by cold snow. My high school years were spent near Seattle, WA and I had the absolute most difficult time in my life getting up in the morning. So hard to get up and out of my cozy bed with the sound of pounding rain outside my window and cold, dark dreary weather. Nothing sounded better than sleeping in and having a long leisurely breakfast with plenty of coffee by the fire! :)

  5. Those boots are stylish! No matter how much I want a pair, I can't justify buying it when it doesn't rain or snow enough in Houston,TX.

So sad. Maybe one day I'll move to somewhere colder or more rainy.

  14. Hi! Im thinking about ordering these beauties this week; I am usually either a 7.5 to an 8. Should I order an 8 or a 7?
I own the original wellies in 8 and I think for a fact they are a little TOO roomy for me. Do these regents fit like the originals?

    1. I'd probably order a 7. These fit a little smaller than the originals, but I generally wear a 5.5 or 6, and the 5 is a good fit for me, even with thick socks. An additional review: these made it through some intense walking (up to 10 miles a day!) for a week in Paris, and they were cozy and comfy the whole time.

  15. Hello!

I stumbled upon your blog when I was shopping for a Rebecca Minkoff purse and I wanted to see what it looked like on a human body. I've been going through your posts and I just wanted to tell you, first, that your RM collection is amazing, secondly, that you're very stylish, and third, that these photos are stunning!!

  16. Hi!
I was searching for reviews on the hunter regent savoy boots and you mentioned they are great for now. can you tell me how they have lasted since this original post? I just purchased the same pair and was curious about their durability through a few seasons. They look absolutely great and very chic! Thanks for any advice you could share!

  17. I have and love these boots, but have you found that after these "bloom" they are incredibly high maintenance? I have to use the Hunter Buffer spray and buff them every single time I wear them otherwise they are white and blotchy... My pair is also showing crack lines where my foot bends. How have yours held up?
