Anchors Aweigh! (An ASOS Review)

Dress: ASOS (on sale!) | Belt: H&M | Sunglasses: Prada | Shoes: BCBG | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar here and here) | Bracelets: J.Crew (similar here), Express (similar from Max&Chloe), Ann Taylor, F21, Boutique

Yesterday, you all saw my patriotic pre-Fourth outfit--the outfit in these photos is what I wore to yesterday evening's fun festivities!

This anchor-print dress was one of my first purchases from British online retailer ASOS, and for only $29 plus free shipping, it's a real bargain (it's actually only $22 in white with a good range of sizes available!). The fit and quality both left me pleasantly surprised and exceeded my expectations. The other dress in my order (see this post) also fit well and was as attractive in person as it appeared online. I definitely will be ordering more from them in the future!

  6. Mega cute dress. One perk of being petite is being able to wear dresses like this without having them look scandalously short :)

    1. So true! Sometimes it's nice to be able to wear a tunic as a bona fide dress. It kind of makes up for having to hem most everything else!

  16. You look great. I love the rope belt.
How would you say ASOS ran for you in terms of sizing? Did you buy petite or use regular sizing?
Let me know! I'm constantly posting from ASOS b/c they have amazing clothes but their sizing stumps me a bit.

  17. You inspired me to get this exact same dress! Got it in the mail today, also LOVE it. There's one thing though: do you find the boning in the dress a little odd? It might be because it's been crushed in the mail for a couple of days, but some of mine are sitting kind of funny on me.
    Love your blog!

    1. I had the same thought with the boning when I first got it! Not to worry, though--I found that it was pretty easy to reshape the boning myself, and after wearing it for a few hours, the shape looked much better and more like what I expected.

One thing to watch for: when you sit down, make sure the boning isn't getting bent at a crazy angle in the back, or it might look a little strange when you stand up!
