Gatsby's Girl

Dress: Aeropostale (old, but this one feels similar) | Sunglasses: Prada | Shoes: Charles David
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Necklace: Ann Taylor (similar here)| Bracelets: Express, ALDO, F21

I've been a Gatsby fan since I first cracked the spine of the paperback copy I was issued for a high school English class. Having already fallen in love with literature and the glow of the more glamorous side of the 1920's, I was swooning after meeting Gatsby, Nick, Jordan, and the Buchanans. The trailer for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming interpretation of the opulent, drama-filled world of East Egg inspired me to pick up this book again--although on my Kindle this time instead of in paperback.

To me, this outfit seemed like an updated version of something Jordan Baker might wear (and would be in keeping with the idyllic pastel tones that pervaded the 1974 version with Robert Redford as Gatsby). Although I've been tempted to chop off my hair during this long, hot summer, I can't quite bring myself to do it. This low, bob-like updo is a decent substitute for an actual flapper haircut.

  7. I totally get the Jordan Baker vibe from this - I love it on you! Are you going to see Baz's version? I think it's going to be either great or really really bad...

    1. I'm definitely going to see Baz's version! Even if it ends up being terrible, I am a big fan of the over-the-top, colorful, chaotic elements his movies have, so I'll at least enjoy that.
