Prep-a-Porter: Yellow Skinnies and Stripes

Photos: Katie Derus | Shirt: Urban Outfitters (similar here on sale) | Button-Down: Abercrombie | Pants: H&M (similar here)| Sunglasses: Prada | Shoes: MICHAEL (similar from DSW | Bag: Tory Burch (the exact one I have is no longer available, unfortunately) | Necklace: Ann Taylor | Sunglasses: Prada | Bracelets: Common Era, Boutique Bling Breckenridge | Rings: F21

I love this versatile Urban Outfitters striped shirt. It's no longer available, but you can find a similar style here (on sale!). A classic striped tee with a subtle boatneck and three-quarter-length sleeves looks timeless and chic whether you mix it with other patterns like I have done previously, or whether you wear it layered with a preppy button-dwon and bright-colored jeans like I did here. (Remember my preview of this outfit in my last post and on my Instagram feed?)

Although I've theoretically known that leopard print is a great, fun neutral for a while now (see me in these same pumps in one of my very first posts), it continues to amaze me how well it pairs with almost everything! So much so, that today, I brought home a leopard cardigan (shh--it's on sale in J.Crew's kids' section, Crewcuts) to add a little interest to my extensive solid-colored cardigan collection!

  3. So chic! You look like a Parisien in your outfit. Thanks for the sock bun tutorial BTW. Did you know that if you make that bun while your hair is slightly damp and leave it on all night, your hair will have beautiful waves? I wish I remembered what website I saw it. I do want to give her the credit for the curls. Thanks!

    1. I saw a YouTube video demonstrating it once, but I just searched for it and couldn't find the one I previously saw. I think it was called "How to Curl Your Hair with a Sock" or something like that.

I wish the sock bun could make my hair curl nicely, but I have naturally curly hair that I have to first blow out straight before I can make pretty, frizz-free waves. I actually did my hair for these photos with a flat iron!

  9. The first thought that came to mind was how nautical it felt but yet whimsical and modern at the same time (that probably made no sense, haha). I adore this look!

  11. Adore! I really need a classic shirt like this. Looks amazing with the rest of your outfit. You really do leopard print so well! When I looked at these photos, I honestly thought how tall you look and how long your legs look. The jeans flatter you amazingly and especially paired with those chic heels!

    1. Thanks, Rachel! You are so kind. I'm so happy I managed to look tall! I think ankle-length pants are really flattering on a variety of heights--and a great way to show off fun shoes.

The shirt is from Abercrombie from years ago, but it's amazing for layering because it's really thin. I've been searching for a similar one just in case something happens to this one but haven't found anything yet [sigh].
