Buffalo check + Hunter boots

Hunter Packable Tour Rain Boots

Weekend Cozy by Hello Framboise
Sweater: LOFT | Denim: 7FAM (with DIY distressing) | Boots: Hunter 'Packable Tour' | Scarf: J.Crew Factory | Bag: Mansur Gavriel | Hat: Anthropologie | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Watch: Michael Kors

I've owned and loved my black Hunter 'Regent' rain boots for several years now, and recently I thought I'd expand my Hunter collection with a pair of the classic boots in a bright color. I tried on the original glossy style, but I found them to be very heavy on my feet, and they looked too wide in the calf area on me. After seeing them on Jean, I decided to see if the 'Tour' style was a better fit for me.

The 'Tour' is a lighter, slimmer rubber boot that's intended to be easily folded and packed for travel. I've traveled with my Regent boots without folding them in my suitcase (I stuff socks and rolled t-shirts in them to put the space to good use), but it's convenient to be able to make these more compact. Good rain boots are a must-bring for me on fall or spring trips where I'm planning to do a lot of sightseeing and there's a possibility of showers. Walking around beautiful places and sightseeing with cold, wet feet is no fun, and my trusty Hunters have saved the day on a number of wet, chilly vacation days.

The Tours are a good fit for me in the smaller of the sizes I usually take. I usually wear between a 5 and 5.5, with the occasional 6 if the shoes run small, but I've found I always take a 5 in Hunters. The toe area was roomy, and my arches felt decently supported in them. I tried them for a day of running errands in overcast, damp weather, and they were comfortable throughout the day albeit a little too warm in some stores. I've also worn these for trips up to the mountains this winter. They are great for keeping my feet dry while taking little Stanley out for a walk in the cold, wet snow, but staying outside much longer than a quick walk would probably require thicker, insulating socks. The Tours will be perfect for springtime, especially if this spring is anything like the rainy one we got last year.

Hope this mini-review was helpful to you. As always, please feel free to ask questions in the comments or via email by hitting "contact me" on the top right of my page.

Hope you're enjoying your week!

Fall Color + an Updated Frye Melissa Boot Review

JCrew Cable Sweater + Frye Melissa Boots
Jacket: J.Crew (this year's longer version here) | Sweater: J.Crew in XXSP | Denim: 7FAM | Boots: The Frye Company (also at Zappos) | Sunglasses: Valentino | Jewelry: Gorjana via Rocksbox

After going bare-legged for the last few days, I finally reached for jeans and my favorite Frye boots yesterday morning after a "winter storm" blew through Denver the night before. The storm didn't quite meet expectations, but we had a nice, crisp fall day afterward. The sunlight coming through the trees was just gorgeous on our walk to a brunch spot in our neighborhood.

Frye Melissa Button Boots Review

I wrote a review of the Frye Melissa Button Boots previously when I bought them, but I thought it worth mentioning again how much I love them. The lower shaft height, narrow calf, and slim ankle make the Melissa Buttons a great style for petite ladies. I own them in two colors, distressed black and the pretty reddish color I'm wearing here (cognac seems to be the closest current color), and they have held up well over the last couple years. I'm not particularly gentle with them and often wear them to walk longer distances in cooler weather. I try to avoid overly wet conditions, but a splash here or there or snow on the ground doesn't seem to affect them at all.

The last week and a half since Sean and I returned from Greece has been a frenzy; unfortunately, this means I've had no time for recent outfit photos. Coming back from vacation is always tough, but this time was extra difficult as I only had about five days to do my final preparation for a week-long trial. Hope you don't mind another outfit post from Greece instead of a fall fashion look today. Colorado has been wonderfully warm and sunny lately, so I haven't been wearing much of my fall wardrobe anyway, but it looks like things should be cooling down this week.

Oia View

These photos are from our last day in Santorini. A hazy morning turned into a beautiful sunny day that wasn't too hot. We spent the day wandering through some shops in town and taking lots of pictures of the stunning views. I love how serene all the blue and white looks everywhere.

I was pretty excited about wearing white on white on white so far after Labor Day. I'm on my second incarnation of these impeccable white jeans after wearing my first pair a ton over the last few years. The "slim illusion" fit is so flattering and comfortable, and they hold their shape really nicely. They are my go-to jeans for shorter flights (long hauls mean leggings for me). I still need to hem this pair, but rolling them up is easy and casual.

Hello, Crete! [+ My Guide to Greece, Part I]

If you've been following my Instagram and Snapchat, you probably saw that Sean and I are in Greece at the moment. It is absolutely, breathtakingly gorgeous here, and we have been loving every minute of our getaway. Since so many of you have expressed that you'd like to visit Greece someday, I thought I'd talk more in-depth about our planning and our stay in case that's helpful when you plan your trip to this lovely country.

It took us about 24 hours, including layovers, to leave from Denver and finally arrive on the island of Crete. We spent our first night at the Lato Boutique Hotel in Heraklion, getting a much-needed full night of sleep in a comfortable bed. We were up early to head out for a day of sightseeing and making our way to our next destination. We stayed at the Lato for a night on our way out of Crete as well, and I can definitely recommend its yummy breakfast, good location, comfy rooms, and reasonable prices.

Summer may be on its way out, but I am definitely not giving up wearing my favorite white jeans anytime soon. I just replaced my previous much-loved pair of 7FAM skinnies (I just looked, and they appeared in about ten posts!). I'm loving my shiny new pair and have been wearing them too much to hand them over to the tailor just yet for hemming. The upcoming weekend weather forecast is promising highs of up to 90, so I am looking forward to savoring the last bits of summer while I can.

Hope you're having a great week!

Our wonderful, relaxing family week at the beach is drawing to a close--just like summer, sadly. I'm looking forward to all the new fall stuff I'm starting to see in stores, but I have been making a point this week to just take in the happiness of summer to try and get myself refreshed and ready to #GSD at work. Later this week, I'm going to post about my recent mindfulness mini-project of focusing on the good and really letting it soak into my thoughts and increase my happiness and satisfaction. Stay tuned if you want to join in!

A little about what I'm wearing: I've been looking for the perfect pair of destructed denim shorts all summer, and after sending back a couple pairs from J Brand and rag + bone, two of my go-to denim labels, I was thinking I might not find something that worked before summer ended. I kept finding the shorts to be too "boyfriend" styled, and my normal size was slouching right off my hips. I then ran across the 7FAM pair I'm wearing here, and they were a good fit for me size-wise (23 for reference), and they were just the color and level of distressing I had wanted. I've been wearing them a ton here at the beach!

My sandals are the Tory Burch pair that was available during Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale at a discount. The price has gone up, unfortunately, but knowing what I know now, I would be seriously considering buying them at full price. They are so elegant and comfortable; I've actually been wearing them as commuting shoes to work for a couple weeks, and I have gotten tons of compliments on them. If you missed out on these during the #NSale, snap them up now, or just add them to your wishlist and wait until the price drops again.

I'm still loving my Rocksbox subscription, which this month surprised me with the Loren Hope necklace I've had wishlisted for a while. It's so much fun to have a constantly rotating jewelry closet and to get a variety of pieces of higher-end costume jewelry to wear that ordinarily would be out of my budget. If you want to sign up too and give it a try, you can get a month free with my code: helloframboisexoxo.

That's all for now! Hope you've enjoyed your weekend!

A recent mild winter day made me want to break out this springy navy-and-white look (and honestly, I try to wear these white jeans as much as I can since they're so comfy!). I added a darker-toned coat and shoes to make the outfit a little more winter-appropriate. Being able to have bare ankles in January is such a treat!

Hope you're all getting some sunshine today!

Anthropologie Sloane Tank
Tank: Anthropologie (on sale!) | Jeans: 7 For All Mankind | Shoes: Ann Taylor | Bag: Coach | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Necklace: Theresa Mink (similar wishbone necklace here) | Bracelets: Ann Taylor, Vintage | Earrings: purchased in Turkey | Watch: Michael Kors | Lips: NARS "Dragon Girl"

Last beach post for me today! This was from a slightly cooler evening, so I pulled out my favorite white skinny jeans and added a jacket later for a stroll down the boardwalk. These jeans are definitely one of my most comfortable pairs, and they're a staple for my summer airplane trips. They're not too thick, and they're stretchy enough to be comfortable while seated for a long time without the dreaded sag when you stand back up again. I've also spilled all sorts of stuff on them and had them come clean with no trouble at all.

The tank I'm wearing is on sale at Anthropologie at the moment, and everything in their sale section is an additional 20% off at the moment with lots of petite sizes left. (The crochet dress I was wearing in my last post is eligible for the additional discount and is perfect for an end-of-summer beach party!)

Happy Friday!

Nautical Stripes & Bright Whites

rebecca minkoff mab mini

j.crew crystal merino sweater
Blazer: H&M | Sweater: J.Crew | Jeans: 7FAM (last seen here) | Sunglasses: Valentino | Shoes: Steve Madden (similar here) (last seen here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Necklace: Brian Gavin | Bracelets: F21, J.Crew, Vintage | Rings: Vintage | Watch: Michael Kors

The white jeans I'm wearing here have seen a lot of action lately (so much that I've been reluctant to get them hemmed because they'll be out of my closet for a few weeks). While I'm still going to do a more detailed review of them, I just wanted to say that I have been really impressed with how wonderfully they've held up through multiple wears and a wash so far. They're the 7FAM Slim Illusion Skinny in Stark White, and the fabric really keeps its shape nicely throughout a couple days of wear--no sagginess is evident even after extended wear. For those of you looking for a pair of flattering and comfy white jeans for the summer, I'd highly recommend these. I went with the smaller of the two sizes I generally wear, which was recommended to me based on the stretchiness of this fabric.
