I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it pop up on ASOS--it's bright, lacy, and feminine, and the poufy skirt and cut-out back make it more interesting than your typical party dress. The back can also be easily covered with a cute cropped cardigan or jacket for more conservative occasions, making it appropriate for a variety of dressy events.

A Petite 1 was just the right size on me. ASOS sizing is very true to the measurements they indicate on their sizing guide, which makes ordering from them so easy and hassle-free. I will say that I was somewhat disappointed about the quality of the nude-colored lining in this dress. It was flimsy and thin to the point that I had to MacGyver myself a backless bra to make sure there was adequate coverage in the front. (Note: my "DIY" bra involved several safety pins and packing tape--definitely wouldn't recommend it and have put a bra like this one on my shopping list.)

Warm fall weather allowed me to spend a day boating with my family this weekend, and while my brother was snapping these photos, my favorite accessory decided he wanted in on the fun. While he's generally not the most photogenic of pups, he decided to pose with me a couple times here, and I can't resist sharing his sweet little face with you.

September has been absolutely flying by! The endless hot weather finally broke, and now I have the opportunity to break out some fall colors and styles. I love summer most, but being a Colorado mountain girl, my wardrobe necessarily contains a lot of cozy cold-weather styles. Although it's been nice to visit a little with my coats, sweaters, scarves, and hats, I hope summer weather lingers on a while longer before it fades for good; I have a few more ideas for warmer-weather weather outfits, and I'm not ready to shelve them quite yet for the year!

So Long, Summer

While it seems like the blogosphere is exploding with posts about fall, I'm still mourning the end of summer. Don't get me wrong--I like fall, especially on those days when it's crisp outside (but not cold), and a warm latte on a walk through crunchy leaves seems just right. However, I'm really a summer girl at heart, so Labor Day Weekend always feels a little bittersweet to me.
