End-of-Summer Bright Accessories

Anthro petite romper + Manolos

Safari romper + silk scarf

Styling a silk neck scarf
Romper: Anthropologie | Shoes: Manolo Blahnik | Bag: kate spade new york | Scarf: Vintage | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Bracelet: Vintage | Earrings: Gorjana c/o Rocksbox | Watch: Michael Kors

For a date night this weekend, I mixed this no-nonsense utility romper with some fun accessories: teal Manolos, an vibrant, vintage silk scarf of my mom's (a pen pal from Japan sent it to her nearly 50 years ago), and my favorite coral purse, which never seems to photograph the true color it is in person, which is a lovely, vibrant coral without too much red, pink, or neon mixed in there.

As of this posting there were still a few sizes of the utility romper I'm wearing available, but it seems like they might be going fast. In case you miss snagging one in your size, here are a few other rompers at Anthropogie that have a similar vibe:

Hope you enjoyed this gorgeous weekend! Thanks for reading!

From the title of this post, you were probably expecting something a little more autumn-y than this outfit, but we have had record high temperatures in Denver over the last couple weeks. I'm getting as much mileage out of my summer clothes as I can while it lasts!

Hope you have a great week!

Luau

Anthropologie Matilde Dress

Polka Dot Dress

Matilde Polka Dot Dress
Dress: Anthropologie | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Ann Taylor | Bag: kate spade new york (similar here and here) | Necklaces: Brian Gavin, Theresa Mink | Bracelets: David Yurman | Watch: Michele

Quick post today to share a fun, tropical look I wore to a luau while I was in Hawaii. I received this cute polka-dot dress (another Anthro petites win!) not long before my trip, and I knew it had to come with me. It read a couple review that indicated it ran small, so I went up a size, which ended up fitting just right. I am bummed I didn't get a good photo of the back--it has a great criss-cross detail and cut-outs that make it interesting, but it can still be worn with either a regular or a strapless bra. I am considering picking one up in another color after realizing how flattering, travel-friendly and comfortable this one is.

I hope you had a fabulous weekend and are enjoying the beginning of summer!

P.S. Just wanted to add one thing--I've added a feature onto the blog where you can simply hover over any photo to pin it to Pinterest (I've been meaning to do this for ages!). Hope that makes pinning a little simpler for you!

Joie de Vivre -- a Lettering + Style Collaboration

hello framboise lettering calligraphy joie de vivre tee shirt

Joie de Vivre Tee // Lettering by Hello Framboise
Sweater: J.Crew | Tee: Peace Love & Tulle (lettering by yours truly!) | Jeans: J Brand | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Bag: Jimmy Choo | Necklace: Ann Taylor | Bracelets: David Yurman | Watch: Michele

I'm so excited to share a bit of fashion + lettering love with you today. Recently, I teamed up with Kristina of Peace Love & Tulle to create a fun, unique tee that celebrated our "joy of life." It was so much fun to work with the lovely and talented Kristina and to turn my calligraphy into something wearable.

The "joie de vivre" lettering was first done with a dip pen and ink on paper, then digitized and screen-printed onto these soft, flattering shirts. The shirts are available in the Peace Love & Tulle online boutique if you want to snag one of your own (be aware that they do run a bit small--I'm wearing a size S here).

J.Crew Everly Cap-Toe Bow Pumps

Cardigan: Crewcuts | Dress: Anthropologie | Belt: kate spade new york | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Tights: Topshop via Nordstrom | Shoes: J.Crew | Necklace: Amrita Singh | Bracelets: H&M c/o, J.Crew (similar here), David Yurman

This post has a couple new pieces I'm loving: a new pair of Karen Walker sunglasses (sadly purchased after my last pair disappeared), some metallic cap-toe bow pumps from J.Crew's recent sale (still available and 30% off!), and this great work dress from Anthropologie Petites (also still on sale!).

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving, and I hope you got to take advantage of some of the Black Friday sales and deals! I went out and did a little shopping in person, but I've tried to mostly shop online (a safer and more comfortable option, in my opinion!). I've been posting my favorite sale finds, discount codes, and gift ideas on Twitter, and I'll continue to do so over the next couple weeks, so make sure to follow along for more holiday shopping updates.

Work Outfit: Neutrals & Dots

Jacket: Arden B. | Dress: Anthropologie | Belt: Ann Taylor | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: L.K. Bennett | Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim | Necklace: Amrita Singh | Bracelets: H&M c/o | Rings: Vintage

This week has brought some cooler weather to Denver, with the last couple days having highs only in the 70s and lots of stormy weather. As you can see in these photos, I was trying to beat a storm rolling in when I took these photos after work yesterday!

I'm wearing a couple of my favorite work pieces in this outfit. The Anthropologie dress is still available in some sizes, and I highly recommend it. The fabric looks like it's a wool or wool blend, but in reality, it's more like cotton jersey: soft and stretchy and very comfortable. It looks much more dressed-up and professional than it feels, which is great. It's also easily styled for off-duty wear, too, which I love, since many of my work clothes don't really translate to weekends.

Everyone always says that a black blazer is an essential piece of a work wardrobe, and I agree, but I think a fitted, light colored blazer is just as versatile. The one I'm wearing here has been going strong since my first year of law school, and I think the cost-per-wear is down to fractions of pennies at this point.

Finally, I've been really enjoying these L.K. Bennett pumps and can see why they're a perennial favorite for the Duchess of Cambridge. They're well-balanced and comfortable for the height, and they look bold enough to make a statement, but demure enough to still be classic.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Big Shot Dot: Remixed

Dress (worn as skirt): J.Crew (Big Shot Dot Dress, Spring 2012--last seen here) (similar here) | Shirt: Aeropostale (last seen here) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman | Clutch: Arden B. (similar style here) | Necklace: Ann Taylor (old) | Bracelets: J.Crew, Vintage | Rings: Vintage | Watch: kate spade new york

This pretty polka dot dress has been sitting in my closet unworn since its last outing over a year ago, so I decided to try styling it as a skirt. I loved the result--pretty, feminine, and more casual than the dress on its own. (Added bonus: styling a dress this way gives me the opportunity to wear the knotted shirt trend without the risk of midriff peeking out at an inopportune moment!)

Romp

petite romper

karen walker sunglasses

31-phillip-lim-medium-pashli
Romper: F21 (old, similar here and here) | Cardigan: Express | Belt: Vintage | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Vince Camuto | Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim (currently available at Barney's and Otte) (read my review) (more colors at Shopbop) | Necklace: Theresa Mink | Bracelets: Boutique, Vintage | Rings: Vintage | Watch: Michael Kors | Toes: Essie "Mint Candy Apple"

After waiting and waiting for spring to actually, well . . . spring in Colorado, temperatures have suddenly soared to the upper eighties in the last couple days. It was so warm that I decided to pull out this romper--one of my summer staples--for an evening wandering the art gallery neighborhood in Denver and sampling beer at one of the great microbreweries in town. I decided to go with heavier black-and-gold accessories to toughen up the romper's feminine floral print.

Basic Chic

frye melissa boots review

karen walker perfect day

7 for all mankind skinny

frye boots petite
Jacket: ZARA (similar from this season) (last seen here) | Top: Urban Outfitters (similar here) | Jeans: 7FAM | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Boots: Frye "Melissa Button" (my review here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar here) | Earrings: Bought in Turkey (similar here) | Lips: Stila "Fiery"

I took my pup to the park yesterday for a romp through the grass before today's crazy snowstorm blew in. Despite the fact that I've lived in Colorado most of my life, I always find it hard to believe that it can be sunny and 70 degrees one day and 34 and snowing the next!

After loving my last pair of Frye boots (so flattering, comfy, and cute!), I decided to do something I generally try not to do: pick up another pair in a different color. When I saw that this distressed black pair of Melissa Buttons was on sale at Zappos, I decided to grab them. Note for fellow small-footed ladies: Zappos has Fryes down to size 5.5, whereas most retailers seem to carry only down to size 6. I like the vintage leather finish on these a lot--it seems like it will only get better with wear, and with the awesome craftsmanship and comfy-right-out-of-the-box fit, I know they will get tons of use. And apparently, I won't have to wait for fall to start wearing them since Denver can't seem to decide whether it's winter, spring, or summer right now.

Hope that your May Day is much, much warmer and drier than mine!

Seersucker Soiree

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer (old, similar here) | Belt: Ann Taylor | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Ann Taylor (last seen here) | Bag: Reed Krakoff "Boxer" (currently available at Bergdorf's & Net-a-Porter) | Necklace: Theresa Mink | Bracelets: J.Crew, Ann Taylor, Vintage | Earrings: Kendra Scott | Watch: Michael Kors

The past weekend in Denver was so warm and gorgeous--it downright felt like summer. I broke out this seersucker dress I haven't worn in ages for a birthday celebration dinner, and I didn't need the cardigan I had stuffed in my bag until we were leaving the restaurant well after dark. I added darker-colored accessories to make this day dress more appropriate for evening. I'm thinking I may recycle this dress for the upcoming Derby, especially if it ends up being as hot as it has been the last couple years.

Hope all of you had a nice, sunny weekend, too!

Shirt: Urban Outfitters (last seen here) | Skirt: H&M (similar here) (last seen here) | Belt: Abercrombie (last seen here) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: MICHAEL (similar here) | Bag: Coach | Necklace: LOFT (similar here and here) | Bracelets: ALDO, Boutique | Watch: Michael Kors

Another drive-by post from me today--seems like I've been doing a lot of them lately (sorry, guys!). Between the abysmal weather recently and craziness at work, it's been tough getting time to blog.

I've also plunged into exploring calligraphy lately and have been spending a lot of time writing with an actual pen (the kind you dip into an inkwell) and paper, which has been challenging (to say the least) but surprisingly fun and relaxing. I've always loved giving and receiving handwritten letters and cards, and I've been wanting to learn lettering and calligraphy for a while, so I went and bought some supplies on a whim and have totally fallen in love. I have found myself trying and learning so many new things since I started this blog, which is wonderful. The more I pick up new skills (photography, graphic design, coding, etc.), the more I want to learn! I think my blogging experience has been a major catalyst in finding the inspiration, motivation, and confidence to try my hand at some of the items--blog-related or not--that have been sitting on my things-I-want-to-try-one-day list.

Have any of you experienced this phenomenon? What inspires you to learn something new?
