Weekend White Denim

White denim

Leopard clutch + Manolo BBs

Summer may be on its way out, but I am definitely not giving up wearing my favorite white jeans anytime soon. I just replaced my previous much-loved pair of 7FAM skinnies (I just looked, and they appeared in about ten posts!). I'm loving my shiny new pair and have been wearing them too much to hand them over to the tailor just yet for hemming. The upcoming weekend weather forecast is promising highs of up to 90, so I am looking forward to savoring the last bits of summer while I can.

Hope you're having a great week!

Winter White

White denim for winter // Hello, Framboise

Givenchy Small Antigona // Hello, Framboise

Bright white denim // Hello, Framboise
Coat: J.Crew (this season's version) | Blouse: Banana Republic | Jeans: 7FAM | Shoes: Manolo Blahnik | Bag: Givenchy (also here) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker 'Perfect Day' | Necklace: Ann Taylor | Bracelets: David Yurman, Banana Republic, Vintage | Watch: Michael Kors

A recent mild winter day made me want to break out this springy navy-and-white look (and honestly, I try to wear these white jeans as much as I can since they're so comfy!). I added a darker-toned coat and shoes to make the outfit a little more winter-appropriate. Being able to have bare ankles in January is such a treat!

Hope you're all getting some sunshine today!

Peplum & Flounce

J.Crew Polka Dot Invitation Clutch

ASOS Tutu Peplum Skirt
Jacket: Zara | Top: ASOS (similar here) | Skirt: ASOS | Sunglasses: Valentino | Belt: H&M | Shoes: L.K. Bennett | Bag: J.Crew (similar here) | Bracelets: J.Crew (similar here), David Yurman, INPINK c/o

Denver had some gorgeous, rosy fall weather this past weekend, and it was warm enough to be comfortable outdoors sans tights, so I decided to pull out this summery skirt again and pair it with some fall pieces (see it styled for summer). Although you generally don't see much white in fall fashion, I liked how this skirt complemented the darker hues in the rest of the outfit.

Hope you're having a great start to your week!

Restyling a Summer Dress for Fall

Restyling a summer dress for fall

Frye Melissa Button Boots

Anthropologie Empress Dress
Jacket: Zara (this season's version) (similar here) | Dress: Anthropologie (last worn here | Cardigan: J.Crew | Sunglasses: Valentino | Boots: Frye (read my review) | Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim (read my review) | Bracelets: David Yurman | Watch: Michael Kors

I thought I'd style one of my favorite dresses from this summer, the Empress Dress from Anthropologie, for a cute transition-to-fall look. Tempertures here remain sunny, but with a definite chill in the air and the threat of storms developing in the evenings.

I added another layer under the jean jacket that you can see peeking its way out: a fitted, wool leopard-print cardigan, which added a nice bit of insuluation for a fall evening.

Thanks for all your feedback in the last post about my future calligraphy posts! I'm hoping there are people out there who want to learn and who will enjoy it, and if there are, we can even do a pen-pal round-robin or something so we can all get pretty snail-mail. You'll be seeing that new series here soon, but not to worry--it won't affect style posts at all (a girl's still gotta wear clothes!).

Falling Leaves

Last week what a whirlwind kind of week--hope you didn't miss me too much here. I've been busy at work, but I've also been working on a few calligraphy projects lately. They have been time-consuming, but they are actually quite relaxing. I really like how rhythmic and meditative lettering is, plus sending out my final products to family and friends makes me so happy (from what I hear, it makes them happy too!).

I am thinking about blogging a little about hand-lettering and modern calligraphy. I have had lots of inquiries from you wonderful readers and Instagram followers asking where to begin and which supplies to purchase. The answers to these questions need much more than a quick email's worth of space (trust me). Please tell me which of the following four options you think would be best and would interest you the most.

Calligraphy Content Survey

1) Integrate calligraphy posts in this blog, which will still be much more personal style than calligraphy, but there would be a little calligraphy and lettering thrown in.

2) Move calligraphy posts to a second blog dedicated only to lettering.

3) I'm not really interested in looking at or doing calligraphy, but I don't really care where you put it.

4) I'm not really interested in looking at or doing calligraphy, and I'd rather not see it on this page.

I'd be so grateful if you guys would give me some feedback on this in the comments. I don't want to launch into something new without seeing if it will work for my readers. I am also re-opening anonymous commenting, so all of you who read but don't have a sign-in account can post to your hearts' content. Can't wait to hear what you think!

Big Shot Dot: Remixed

Dress (worn as skirt): J.Crew (Big Shot Dot Dress, Spring 2012--last seen here) (similar here) | Shirt: Aeropostale (last seen here) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman | Clutch: Arden B. (similar style here) | Necklace: Ann Taylor (old) | Bracelets: J.Crew, Vintage | Rings: Vintage | Watch: kate spade new york

This pretty polka dot dress has been sitting in my closet unworn since its last outing over a year ago, so I decided to try styling it as a skirt. I loved the result--pretty, feminine, and more casual than the dress on its own. (Added bonus: styling a dress this way gives me the opportunity to wear the knotted shirt trend without the risk of midriff peeking out at an inopportune moment!)

3 Ways to Wear Leopard Pants

Links for outfit details (clockwise from top left): One, Two, Three | Similar posts on restyling colorful pants and tips for pattern-mixing

I bought these leopard-print pants at the end of summer last year, thinking that, while they were cute, I didn't see myself getting a ton of wear out of them. Lo and behold, they've suprised me and made it to the blog several times (and to a handful of un-blogged outfits), so I thought I'd compile a few of them here.

Hope you have a great weekend! I am probably going to try to shop a few of the amazing designer sales going on right now--you can't miss the fantastic markdowns at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks, Barney's, Bloomie's, and Shopbop. At the moment, I have my sights set on this gorgeous Reed Krakoff bag and this fit-for-a-princess pair of classic pumps, but there's so much more to sort through!

I love the time of year when I get reacquainted with my summer dresses. It feels like I have a brand-new wardrobe at my disposal! This anchor-print dress was just waiting for a sunny summer Sunday to put in an appearance.

Nautical Stripes & Bright Whites

Blazer: H&M | Sweater: J.Crew | Jeans: 7FAM (last seen here) | Sunglasses: Valentino | Shoes: Steve Madden (similar here) (last seen here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Necklace: Brian Gavin | Bracelets: F21, J.Crew, Vintage | Rings: Vintage | Watch: Michael Kors

The white jeans I'm wearing here have seen a lot of action lately (so much that I've been reluctant to get them hemmed because they'll be out of my closet for a few weeks). While I'm still going to do a more detailed review of them, I just wanted to say that I have been really impressed with how wonderfully they've held up through multiple wears and a wash so far. They're the 7FAM Slim Illusion Skinny in Stark White, and the fabric really keeps its shape nicely throughout a couple days of wear--no sagginess is evident even after extended wear. For those of you looking for a pair of flattering and comfy white jeans for the summer, I'd highly recommend these. I went with the smaller of the two sizes I generally wear, which was recommended to me based on the stretchiness of this fabric.

Orangerie

Shirt: Urban Outfitters (last seen here) | Skirt: H&M (similar here) (last seen here) | Belt: Abercrombie (last seen here) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: MICHAEL (similar here) | Bag: Coach | Necklace: LOFT (similar here and here) | Bracelets: ALDO, Boutique | Watch: Michael Kors

Another drive-by post from me today--seems like I've been doing a lot of them lately (sorry, guys!). Between the abysmal weather recently and craziness at work, it's been tough getting time to blog.

I've also plunged into exploring calligraphy lately and have been spending a lot of time writing with an actual pen (the kind you dip into an inkwell) and paper, which has been challenging (to say the least) but surprisingly fun and relaxing. I've always loved giving and receiving handwritten letters and cards, and I've been wanting to learn lettering and calligraphy for a while, so I went and bought some supplies on a whim and have totally fallen in love. I have found myself trying and learning so many new things since I started this blog, which is wonderful. The more I pick up new skills (photography, graphic design, coding, etc.), the more I want to learn! I think my blogging experience has been a major catalyst in finding the inspiration, motivation, and confidence to try my hand at some of the items--blog-related or not--that have been sitting on my things-I-want-to-try-one-day list.

Have any of you experienced this phenomenon? What inspires you to learn something new?

Spring Trends: Pastel, Floral, and a Bow on Top

Shirt: Gap (similar here) (last seen here) | Skirt: F21 (similar here) (last seen here) | Bow Belt: Abercrombie (originally came with this dress) (adore this Kate Spade version, too!) | Pumps: MICHAEL (similar here) (last seen here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar here) (last seen here) | Necklace: JenniJewel (last seen here) | Earrings: bought in Turkey (similar here) (last seen here) | Bracelets: INPINK c/o, F21, Vintage | Watch: Michael Kors (last seen here)

The gorgeously warm weather last weekend let me put together a few trends for a fun, springy brunch outfit on Saturday.

As I was assembling this post, I realized every one of the pieces in this outfit has been styled in previous blog posts, reminding me that it's not always necessary to purchase new items to have an of-the-moment look (something I often struggle to remember). A busy work and travel schedule has left me with less time for shopping and bargain-hunting lately, so I'm trying to put together new looks with what's in my closet already--"trying" being the operative word there, of course. Click on "last seen here" in the item details above if you'd like to see how I've previously styled each of these pieces.

5 Ways to Wear Yellow Pants

[Click on each outfit for additional photos and details.]

One of my favorite things to see on the blogs I read is how other ladies re-style their wardrobes, especially when it comes to seemingly hard-to-wear pieces. (I'll also admit I've always been a big fan of People Magazine's "I Really Love My" feature.) I thought I'd share one of my own with you today.

I'm considering making this a regular feature. What do you think, readers? Do you love seeing re-styled pieces as much as I do?
