Buffalo check + Hunter boots

Hunter Packable Tour Rain Boots

Weekend Cozy by Hello Framboise
Sweater: LOFT | Denim: 7FAM (with DIY distressing) | Boots: Hunter 'Packable Tour' | Scarf: J.Crew Factory | Bag: Mansur Gavriel | Hat: Anthropologie | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Watch: Michael Kors

I've owned and loved my black Hunter 'Regent' rain boots for several years now, and recently I thought I'd expand my Hunter collection with a pair of the classic boots in a bright color. I tried on the original glossy style, but I found them to be very heavy on my feet, and they looked too wide in the calf area on me. After seeing them on Jean, I decided to see if the 'Tour' style was a better fit for me.

The 'Tour' is a lighter, slimmer rubber boot that's intended to be easily folded and packed for travel. I've traveled with my Regent boots without folding them in my suitcase (I stuff socks and rolled t-shirts in them to put the space to good use), but it's convenient to be able to make these more compact. Good rain boots are a must-bring for me on fall or spring trips where I'm planning to do a lot of sightseeing and there's a possibility of showers. Walking around beautiful places and sightseeing with cold, wet feet is no fun, and my trusty Hunters have saved the day on a number of wet, chilly vacation days.

The Tours are a good fit for me in the smaller of the sizes I usually take. I usually wear between a 5 and 5.5, with the occasional 6 if the shoes run small, but I've found I always take a 5 in Hunters. The toe area was roomy, and my arches felt decently supported in them. I tried them for a day of running errands in overcast, damp weather, and they were comfortable throughout the day albeit a little too warm in some stores. I've also worn these for trips up to the mountains this winter. They are great for keeping my feet dry while taking little Stanley out for a walk in the cold, wet snow, but staying outside much longer than a quick walk would probably require thicker, insulating socks. The Tours will be perfect for springtime, especially if this spring is anything like the rainy one we got last year.

Weekend Vibe + A Couple Reviews of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Joie 'Quinn' shoes + boyfriend jeans
Top: Urban Outfitters (on sale!) | Denim: ASOS | Shoes: Joie via the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (#NSale) | Bag: Mansur Gavriel (hint: these are notoriously hard to find, but you can pre-order one at Barney's right now!) | Bracelet: Vintage | Earrings: Nadri via the #NSale

Some of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale picks from my previous post have finally arrived! While not everything is summer-appropriate of course, I thought I'd show you a look with couple pieces that I was able put to work right away and will transition easily into fall, my Joie lace-up sandal-booties and the Nadri Ear Jackets. Remember, the Anniversary Sale is still going on this week, but prices go up on August 3.

Nadri Ear Jacket Nordstrom

I've been looking at earrings in this style (with a back jacket) for a while now, and these pretty Nadri ones really caught my eye while I was browsing the Anniversary Sale. I was delighted to find that they are even prettier in person, and they are light as air on my ears.

I find it difficult to wear heavy earrings for an entire day; these are so light I even forgot to take them out before bed and had no trouble sleeping in them. The jackets have a couple different holes where you can insert the earring, so you can control how low you want them to hang below your ear. The backs are nice and sturdy, so you don't have to worry about them loosening or falling out. I think I'll be wearing these a ton this summer and fall!

2015 Joie Quinn Sandals Norstrom Anniversary Sale Pick

One of my other favorite pieces I ordered from the #NSale? These Joie sandals (booties? a hybrid?). Getting into them takes a little effort, but once they're on, I found them to be very comfortable as long as I left myself plenty of room in the laces. The heel on them is a very walkable stiletto, and the leather is buttery-soft, so no blister issues there. I'm excited to style these in a bunch of different ways--they have so much potential!

I wore the look in this post yesterday, which was a very busy Sunday. Because of our work schedules, Sean and I don't get to run many errands during the week, so we jam as many as we can into our weekends. When we stopped to quickly take these photos, we had a car full of groceries, so I decided to grab my bunch of supermarket roses and use it as a prop here.

Casual chic.

This location is another great Denver spot. Behind me you can see the interesting architectural features of the Denver Art Museum, and I'm standing on the promenade between the museum and the Denver Public Library. There are some fascinating pieces of public art around this park--here's a little more info on some of the big pieces if you're interested.

Winter Wonderland

Blanket scarf + layers

Details + neutrals

Mansur Gavriel mini bucket bag

Zara blanket scarf wrap
Sweater: ASOS | Collared Shirt: H&M | Scarf: Zara (similar here and here) | Denim: J Brand '620' | Boots: Stuart Weitzman | Bag: Mansur Gavriel (sold out in most places, but Bergdorf's has a few available for pre-order) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Watch: Michael Kors | Necklace: Theresa Mink | Bracelet: J.Crew | Rings: Vintage, SIX | Lips: NARS 'Dragon Girl' | Nails: OPI 'You're Such a Budapest'

Last week's bikini weather quickly devolved into a big snowstorm on Saturday, so on Sunday morning, we woke up to this winter wonderland right outside our door. The day wasn't quite as chilly as it looked, so I was comfortable in this layered ensemble, using my Zara blanket scarf as more blanket than scarf. I layered a collared shirt under this warm, furry sweater, and I was set for a quick walk with Stanley in the snow.

Hope you have a lovely week!

A Pop of Yellow

Yellow shorts + black & white dots

Mansur Gavriel Mini Bucket Bag

Banana Republic Dot Sleeveless Blouse
Top: Banana Republic | Shorts: Crewcuts (on sale, also available in women's sizing) | Shoes: Steve Madden (similar here on sale) | Bag: Mansur Gavriel (mine is the Mini Bucket--if their site is out of stock, with some luck, you may be able to pre-order one via Steven Alan, Bergdorf's, or Barney's) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Necklaces: Brian Gavin, Teresa Mink, Banana Republic | Bracelets: Ann Taylor, H&M c/o | Earrings: purchased in Turkey | Watch: Michael Kors

I love when I find pieces like this Banana Republic blouse that transition easily between work and casual looks. Last week, I wore it with a black pencil skirt and coral blazer, and over the weekend, I paired it with these sunny yellow shorts for a casual brunch date at Lucile's Creole Cafe (a favorite Denver brunch spot).

Hope you're having a great week!

New York Part III: the High Line

Our third day in New York began right by our Airbnb apartment in Chelsea on the High Line, an old elevated train line on the Lower West Side of Manhattan that has been converted into a public park. The High Line is one of my favorite parts of New York City, and it was great to be able to see it from our apartment window (see pics from my visit there in the fall here).

We took our time walking down the High Line to its southern end in the West Village, stopping for people-watching and taking in the city vistas. There were also all sorts of pretty wildflowers in bloom that were a nice contrast to the urban landscape.

Our last full day in New York was a hot, humid one, so I decided to try a messy side braid to keep my hair from getting frizzy and sticking to the back of my neck. I am a little out of practice with French braids, but this style was pretty easy to do, and since the end product is intended to look messy, I didn't worry too much about imperfections.

An Evening in the Park

Denver Park Outfit

Cable Collectibles Stacked Necklaces Park

Mansur Gavriel Mini Bucket Bag

Tam + Stan
Tank: Anthropologie | Shorts: old (similar via Topshop or rag & bone | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Ann Taylor | Bag: Mansur Gavriel (mine is the Mini Bucket--if their site is out of stock, with some luck, you may be able to pre-order one via Steven Alan, Bergdorf's, or Barney's) | Necklaces: Circle Pendant, Initial Pendant, and Heart Pendant thanks to David Yurman | Watch: Vintage Dior

Sean and I love to pack up a bottle of champagne and take Stanley to the park on a summer evening. Once Stanley runs off some energy--he loves tearing around in circles and chasing us through the grass--we settle in to drink a glass of champagne and watch the sunset.

Cheers!

Cheers!
