Overalls for Fall

Topshop overalls

Overalls + Manolos

Moto Dungarees

Overalls + Stripes
Tee: Topshop | Overalls: Topshop | Shoes: Manolo Blahnik | Bag: Reed Krakoff | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Scarf: Arden B. | Watch: Michael Kors | Lips: NARS 'Yu'

As a petite person, I'm always wary of styles that make me look too young or babyish. I've been hesitant to try incorporating overalls into my wardrobe, especially since the last time I wore a pair was probably in elementary school. I recently found this pair at Topshop and decided to give them a try, especially since the fit was slimmer and more sophisticated than many others I've debated ordering. I was pleasantly surprised by how flattering they were right out of the box and decided to keep them.

If you're still waiting to hop on the overalls train, I'd recommend this pair--it's less expensive than many other available options, and the quality is good. My only piece of advice/word of caution is that if you're my height (4'11") or taller, go for regular sizing rather than petite. I'm wearing the petite size here, and you can see that the straps are all the way extended. I have a short torso, and even with the extended straps, the top is still a bit snug on my shoulders. As I wore these, they stretched a bit, but I think I probably would have been more comfortable ordering the same numerical size in regular sizing. I haven't tried washing them yet, but I plan to wash in cold water and air dry since any shrinkage would probably make them unwearable.

In styling these overalls, I intentionally choose more feminine and elegant accessories for a more grown-up, chic look. I liked the contrast of bright stiletto heels with the more casual denim and tee. I'm hoping this won't be the last time I get to wear these teal suede shoes this year, but it looks like Denver will see some snow later this week (I think I'm equal parts excited and bummed about the prospect!).

Hope your week has been wonderful so far!

Culotte jumpsuit: Topshop | Denim Jacket: J.Crew | Shoes: Joie | Bag: Valentino | Bracelets: Vintage, HM, BR | Necklaces: Gorjana x Rockbox c/o | Earrings: Gorjana via Rocksbox c/o |

I've teamed up with Gorjana and Rocksbox today to show you this pretty, new, exclusively-on-Rocksbox set of layered necklaces from Gorjana. I love subscription boxes, especially when I get to expand my accessory collection and wear some cute pieces inexpensively to change up my usual look. Those who read here regularly know I'm not much of a jewelry chameleon, but Rockbox makes my day whenever it arrives, and it encourages me to incorporate new pieces. Weekend Romp

Topshop Petite Black Jersey Playsuit
Romper: Topshop (love this current version in regular and petite sizing or this strappy one) | Shoes: Splendid | Bag: Valentino | Sunglasses: Valentino | Belt: Madewell | Hat: F21 | Earrings: Gorjana via Rocksbox | Watch: Michael Kors

I love wearing rompers on hot summer days--they're so simple but still look put-together. I wore this breezy one out for a fun brunch at Snooze at Union Station. While we waited for a table, we got to explore the station a bit, sampling the coffee from the Pigtrain Coffee Co. and some cider at the charming Terminal Bar.

Valentino Rockstud Tote & Sunglasses

Michael Kors Ritz Watch

Every time I get to wander around Union Station, I get an urge to take a train trip somewhere. Planes are wonderful, but there's something a little romantic about travel by train. Sean and I have resolved that we'll do a train trip within the U.S. someday since we have enjoyed it so much in Europe.

Bloom at Union Station

They had such pretty bouquets at Bloom that it was hard to resist taking one home. I love a place that can deftly incorporate kale into a chic floral arrangement.

Black Topshop Romper

Earlier this weekend, I stopped by the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale at my local Nordie's to have a look around. After seeing some of the items I have on order in person, I am excited to receive them. Hope you are finding some gems there, too--my picks and favorites are in my last post. The sale is only through August 3, so make sure to check it out this week before prices on sale items go up for the fall.

Have a great week!

Travel Diary: Stripes in Kings Park, Perth

Tam in Topshop in Perth
Dress: Topshop (identical in red here or similar in a Bardot style or a sleeveless style for summer) | Shoes: Splendid | Bag: Valentino | Necklace: Perry Street via Rocksbox | Earrings: Gorjana via Rocksbox | Bracelet: Vintage | Watch: Michael Kors

Happy Monday! I have another post from our Australia trip for you today. This amazing setting is Kings Park and Botanic Gardens in Perth, Western Australia. The park and botanic gardens are enormous and have an incredible view of the city and harbor. We stopped by and wandered through right around sunset before heading to dinner.

Perth Overlook

Splendid Greenville Wedges

A quick plug for the Splendid platform slides I'm sporting here: I've been wearing these non-stop this spring and summer. They were comfortable right out of the box, with a padded footbed and a nicely balanced platform. The combination of comfort, a couple extra inches in height, and the leg-lengthening nude color have made these my go-to summer footwear this year.

Hello Framboise Rocksbox Perry Street Necklace

The necklace and earrings I'm wearing in this post are both pieces from my Rocksbox subscription. For all the details on Rocksbox, check out my review post here. If you're interested in signing up, you can use the code "helloframboisexoxo" to get a free month of jewels sent your way.

Below is a photo of me with my lovely and stylish sister-in-law, who gets to live in this beautiful city. She and her husband were such great hosts to Sean and me, especially given that I was still reeling from my hand injury and needing follow-up care. We can't wait to go back and visit again, injury-free.

Tam & Court

I'll leave you with a last shot from the end of the sunset over the harbor. The colors were so vivid and beautiful!

For my fellow American readers, I hope you had a wonderful Independence Day weekend! You can shop my look in the photos below!

Sunset in Perth

Beach Look in Perth
Tee: J.Crew (liking this current one) | Shorts: Topshop 'Hallie' (on a huge sale if you happen to be a size 10!) | Sandals: Splendid | Bag: Valentino | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Bracelet: vintage (from my dear grandmother) | Watch: Michael Kors

After exploring Brisbane, Sean and I headed north to Cairns, where we saw the Great Barrier Reef and my fingers had their unfortunate encounter with the boat ladder. The day after I had surgery, we hopped on a plane across the continent to Perth, where we visited Sean's wonderful sister (and seriously considered staying forever).

My activities were somewhat limited with my recent injury, but I could still enjoy the gorgeous weather and unbelievable beaches. The climate and natural beauty reminded me a lot of California, but with so many fewer people! Perth is a bustling city, but not too far away, the natural landscape feels untouched and like it goes on for ages. It felt almost surreal to be so far from home.

Summer White Denim

Sean's sister took us to delicious Clancy's Fish Pub on City Beach in Perth for our first night there. The food was so fresh, and the view over the water was perfect. After a hectic few days getting there, the relaxed Western Australia beaches were exactly the recharge we needed.

White + Stripes at the Beach

After dinner, we snapped some outfit photos and watched the sun set over the Indian Ocean. It was my first time seeing this ocean, and it was beautiful (now I just have to dip my toes into the Arctic Ocean to complete my list--not sure if I'll be doing that ever).

Perth City Beach Sunset

One more snap from my Instagram to show you how lovely and turquoise this water was by daylight when we arrived at the beach. I ran in and dipped my toes in the water right after Sean shot this pic.

Hope you've enjoyed this little glimpse at Perth! More to come soon.

Australia: Exploring Brisbane

I'm so excited to finally share some of our Australia photos with you today! I'll be posting about our trip here and there for the next couple weeks. Our first stop in the Land Down Under was beautiful Brisbane, the biggest city in Queensland. We were lucky enough to have family in the area, so we got to stay at their lovely home and experience the city like locals.

Summer was just ending while we were there, and it was extremely hot and humid. Our hosts said the weather had definitely cooled off since summer was nearly over. We struggled to imagine how hot it must be in the summer!

Crop Top + Crochet Shorts
Top: Anthropologie | Shorts: Topshop | Shoes: J.Crew (love these from this season) | Clutch: Clare V | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Watch: Michael Kors | Lips: NARS 'Yu'

Given the weather, I tried to dress as coolly and comfortably as possible for exploring the city. Light crochet shorts, a breezy crop top, and strappy sandals were about as much clothing as I could handle.

Brisbane was such a pretty and fun city to explore. It went from bustling and urban in one locale, to serene and peaceful in a large Japanese-style garden only a block or two away from the main bus and train station. We wandered around the Brisbane Botanic Garden for a bit and drank in the scenery. While there, we chatted with a local cold-brewed coffee vendor (nothing has every tasted so delicious on a sweltering hot morning!), and she gave us some tips on her favorite restaurants and what we should do in Cairns, where we were headed next.

Other than the time we got to spend with family and friends while in this gorgeous city, I think my favorite part of the Brisbane portion of our trip was exploring the South Bank Parklands in the middle of the city. There's a large public swimming pool there, complete with a beach and shops. Sean and I spent a lot of time just lying on the beach, reading, and people-watching, all the while knowing that work was thousands of miles away.

Overall, we loved the hustle and bustle of Brisbane and our wonderful hosts. We're excited to do another trip sometime in the future and stay even longer.

Simple Neutrals

Simple neutrals

J.Crew Sydney Jacket

Tipped peacoat & tall boots
Blazer: J.Crew (now 30% off with code GIVETHIS) | Blouse: Banana Republic (in solid black here) | Coat: J.Crew (two seasons' ago, this season's here, also 30% off) | Jeans: Topshop | Boots: Stuart Weitzman | Bag: Valentino (available at Nordstrom or Farfetch, where I found mine) | Bracelets: David Yurman | Watch: Michele | Lips: NARS "Yu" + Fresh Sugar Berry

For the last week or so, it has been very hard to believe it's December in Denver. While mornings can be chilly, I've found myself carrying my coat and wishing I hadn't worn boots by noon almost daily. I know the snow will be back soon, though, so I haven't given up hope for a white Christmas.

Last weekend, sunshine and 60-degree weather made it comfortable to be out and about in a 3/4-sleeve blazer. This blazer (the Sidney style from J.Crew) has become one of my favorite wardrobe staples over the last few months. I originally purchased a pinstriped version as part of a suit, and I loved how flattering and slim the fit was without any alterations. Although J.Crew's suiting pieces can be spendy, they often run 25-30% off promotions (like the one they're running right now with code GIVETHIS). To me, the cost is worth it when I don't have to spend additional time and money getting them tailored to fit.

I'm off to my work holiday party this evening--I'll share my look with you next week. Hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

Fall in the Mountains

Pardon Moi Sweater + Stuart Weitzman Boots

Stuart Weitzman Boots + Jeans + Leather Jacket

Dachsie
Jacket: Zara (similar in petite and regular sizing from Nordstrom and in faux leather at Ann Taylor | Sweater: ASOS (previously styled here and here) | Jeans: Topshop | Boots: Stuart Weitzman | Bag: Reed Krakoff | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Necklace: Arden B. | Bracelets: David Yurman, Tiffany | Watch: Michele | Lips: NARS "Dragon Girl"

Instead of heading to fashion week in the fall, I can usually be found heading to an annual legal education conference, and this year, we had our conference in the mountains. The dress code is very casual, so I decided to take advantage of it (and of the cooler weather!) and try out some of my new fall pieces--with a couple older favorites--for this look.

I recently picked up these jeans from Topshop and was pleasantly surprised at how nicely they fit and how comfortable they were. The material is soft with just the right amount of stretch, and the light gray acid wash was something I didn't have in my closet.

I've been looking for a pair of boots like the Stuart Weitzman 5050 for a while since the 5050 didn't work well for my wider feet. I ended up finding a new-in-box pair (also by Stuart Weitzman) in an older style with a slightly higher heel via Poshmark that worked for me (the Hijack looks like a similar current style). I was able to walk around all day in them up in the mountains with no foot fatigue despite the heel. I'm hoping I won't be able to wear them in Denver for a little while yet, though--I'm not ready to embrace winter temperatures quite yet!

Happy Monday!

Crochet Shorts + Striped Top

Topshop Crochet Shorts
Tee: J.Crew (similar here) | Shorts: Topshop | Shoes: J.Crew | Bag: Coach | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Necklace: Ann Taylor | Bracelets: Ann Taylor, Vintage | Earrings: purchased in Turkey | Watch: Michael Kors

I decided to take a little break from the camera and computer for the first few days of my beach vacation, so this post is coming to you a little belated. I've been spending some time at the shore with my family this week, and it has been so nice to unplug--except for my Kindle--and soak up a little sun. Next week will be crazy when I return to work, so I'm trying to savor the peace and quiet while I can!

Happy Friday!
