Luau

Anthropologie Matilde Dress

Polka Dot Dress

Matilde Polka Dot Dress
Dress: Anthropologie | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Ann Taylor | Bag: kate spade new york (similar here and here) | Necklaces: Brian Gavin, Theresa Mink | Bracelets: David Yurman | Watch: Michele

Quick post today to share a fun, tropical look I wore to a luau while I was in Hawaii. I received this cute polka-dot dress (another Anthro petites win!) not long before my trip, and I knew it had to come with me. It read a couple review that indicated it ran small, so I went up a size, which ended up fitting just right. I am bummed I didn't get a good photo of the back--it has a great criss-cross detail and cut-outs that make it interesting, but it can still be worn with either a regular or a strapless bra. I am considering picking one up in another color after realizing how flattering, travel-friendly and comfortable this one is.

I hope you had a fabulous weekend and are enjoying the beginning of summer!

P.S. Just wanted to add one thing--I've added a feature onto the blog where you can simply hover over any photo to pin it to Pinterest (I've been meaning to do this for ages!). Hope that makes pinning a little simpler for you!

In Black & White

ASOS Petite Sheer Check Midi

31 phillip lim medium pashli

ASOS Petite Outfit
Top: ASOS | Skirt: ASOS | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: kate spade new york | Bag: 3.1 phillip lim | Necklace: Ann Taylor | Bracelets: David Yurman | Watch: Michele

Quick post today as I'm just getting back into the swing of things after attending a destination wedding in Hawaii last week. I did a whole bunch of lettering work for this event, and it was awesome to see the results in action (see my Instagram feed for photos of my work and the amazing scenery).

Skipping back to the outfit I'm wearing in these photos--let's talk about crop tops. Love them or not, they seem to be everywhere. I actually own a few, but you'd never be able to tell since "crop top" for most people means "yay, a top that comes down to the top of my skirt/pants and not below my butt" for me. I thought I might be able to find one that looks a little more "cropped" on me by buying a petite-specific version, but the ASOS top I'm wearing here seems to be more of the usual. Although I thought about returning it, the scoop back really sold me on this one. I loved the way it looked with this checkered midi-mini hybrid skirt.

Have any of you found a good petite-friendly crop top (that is at the same time not a glorified bra)? Please share if you have!

Petite-Friendly DVF

DVF Wrap Dress Petite

DVF Wrap Dress + Accessories

Diane von Furstenberg Julian Two Wrap Dress
Dress: Diane von Furstenberg | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman | Bag: 3.1 phillip lim | Necklace: Ann Taylor (similar here) | Bracelets: David Yurman, Ann Taylor (similar here) | Watch: kate spade new york

I've always been a fan of wrap-type dresses (I last wore one here), and I loved the idea of someday owning one by Diane von Furstenberg, the creator of the original classic wrap dress. After seeing how pretty and flattering Jean's DVF pieces were on her, I decided I'd take advantage of DVF's Friends & Family sale and try one for myself.

I chose the New Julian Two Mini for a couple reasons. First, the shorter length would make it less likely that the dress would need to be hemmed to more flattering proportions. Second, the description on DVF's website indicated that this particular style ran small. Third, the wrap style makes the fit a little more adjustable if it's not quite perfect. My hope was that that combination would make for a petite-friendly fit, and it did. I was very happy with the length and overall fit, and the silk jersey is very comfortable. I also liked that the wrap stayed put around my chest all day--something that isn't always the case with this style--making it work-appropriate for a more casual day at the office.

Petite-Friendly Maxi Dresses at Anthropologie

Anthropologie Petite Tamsin Maxi

Tamsin Maxi Dress via Anthropologie

Zara Petite Denim Jacket
Dress: Anthropologie (I'm wearing an XSP) | Jacket: Zara (current season's) | Hat: F21 (similar here andhere) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Ann Taylor | Bag: kate spade new york (similar here) | Bracelet: David Yurman | Watch: Michael Kors

I adore maxi dresses (and think they can definitely work on petite frames), but it's always a challenge to find petite-friendly ones that don't require alterations or four-inch heels. I've had some luck with Anthropologie's maxis lately, and I appreciate that they always list the length of the petite v. regular versions in their product descriptions. (Another tip: I take a look at their model photos--if the dress ends at their model's ankles instead of at the floor, the petite version will go to the floor on me).

The dress I'm wearing in these photos is their Tamsin Maxi. I sized up one size because I've noticed that this particular designer (Puella) seems to run pretty small. With our warm spring temperatures here in Denver, I've been able to wear it already with a jacket, but I think it'll be a great dress for summer.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Directional Stripes

Anthropologie Pieced Column Dress

Stuart Weitzman Platswoon

Pieced Column Dress

Tracy Reese Directional Dress
Dress: Plenty by Tracy Reese via Anthropologie Petites (runs small--I'm wearing an XSP) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker "Super Duper Strength" | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman| Bag: kate spade new york | Bracelets: J.Crew, H&M c/o, David Yurman | Watch: Michael Kors

I wore this fun Plenty by Tracy Reese dress for a Sunday date night with my soon-to-be husband. I had intended to potentially wear this dress to work when I ordered it, but it runs a bit small, and I decided once I put it on that it was definitely not work-appropriate. I was considering returning it, but it's comfortable and flattering, and great for cooler nights out because of the long sleeves. Although it seems like petite sizing is sold out at Anthropologie, I think the stretchiness and shape of this dress would make it a good fit in regular sizing (I'd suggest ordering your normal size in regular if you're petite; order one size up if you're not).

Have a great Monday!

Introducing The Limited Petites

The Limited Petites Collection
Cardigan, Top, Skirt, Bag c/o The Limited Petite | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Bracelets: J.Crew, David Yurman | Watch: Michael Kors

I'm excited to introduce all of you to a new petites collection from The Limited. Debuting last month, The Limited is now offering a large selection of their work-friendly pieces in petite sizing. This was great news for me, as it means I have another option for stylish work attire. The petite collection mirrors the regular sizing line, but for now, it is only available online.

The Limited Petites Review

The line comes in sizes 0P-12P for dresses and suiting pieces (with some pieces available in 00P), and in XSP-XLP for blouses, tops, and other pieces. I found that the sizing is comparable to standard petite sizing, which meant that some of my pieces required alterations. In these photos, I have the skirt pinned back a couple inches and belted, and I'm planning to have it slimmed down the sides. The sweater top I'm wearing was a perfect fit in an XSP--not too long or wide. The cardigan in an XSP had a more casual, looser fit than I like for the office, but it should make for a comfortable weekend piece.

The Limited Petites Review

Note: at the moment, many of the pieces in the current collection are on sale or buy-one-get-one promotions as they are making room for new spring pieces (I recently took a sneak peek at the upcoming collection, and it looks great!).

You can also check out a few more pieces from the current line styled by Jean of Extra Petite, Kelly of Alterations Needed, and KT of KTRstyle.

Cobalt J.Crew Coat
Coat: J.Crew via Poshmark (similar here) | Jeans: J Brand | Boots: Steve Madden (similar style here) | Bag: Coach | Bracelets: David Yurman | Watch: Michael Kors

It was a chilly weekend in Denver, but spring is just around the corner. A bright-colored trench coat like the one I'm wearing here is a great transitional piece for breezy spring days.

Have a great week!

Red Letter Day

ASOS Full Midi Skirt in Scuba

Red Midi + Blush Blouse + Jewel Belt

ASOS Midi Skirt Outfit

valentine's
Coat: H&M | Blouse: Ann Taylor (last seen here) | Skirt: ASOS (other colors available, too) | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman | Bag: Tory Burch (similar here) | Watch: Kate Spade

This weekend was a very exciting one (hence "Red Letter Day"). Boyfriend and I became officially engaged! I'm finally marrying the mysterious man behind the lens (he occasionally shows his handsome face on my Instagram). We're both very excited about the upcoming wedding.

The clothes I'm wearing here are what I wore out on Valentine's Evening to a lovely dinner at Potager, a local farm-to-table contemporary-style restaurant in Denver. It's nice to go somewhere where the menu changes constantly and every time, it seems to get better. I love how festive and fancy this ASOS Skirt felt--definitely a good purchase as I think it can be styled nicely for all four seasons.

Hope you had a nice Valentine's Day celebrating with your main squeeze, your family, or your friends!

Banana Republic Review: Sloan-Fit Ankle Pants

Banana Republic Sloan Ankle-Zip Pant

Reed Krakoff Boxer

Petite Sloan-Fit Ankle Pants by Banana Republic
Jacket: Ann Taylor Factory (last seen here) | Blouse: Ann Taylor | Pants: Banana Republic "Sloan-Fit Ankle-Zip Pant" c/o | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Bag: Reed Krakoff | Flower Pin: F21 | Bracelets: David Yurman, Tiffany, Swarovski

I'm trying another piece from the Banana Republic slim-fitting Sloan line today--these ankle-zip pants in black. A 00P fit me pretty well--the inseam and the fit down my legs were both perfect, but I did experience some gapping at the waist in the back, which resulted in a little bagginess through the seat. I'm planning to have them taken in at the waist and possibly in the seat to get them to a perfect fit.

As I mentioned in my last post, I am really liking the Sloan fabric. The extra thickness and stretch makes for a flattering and comfortable fit. I'm definitely considering adding a few more of these pieces to my workwear wardrobe.

Hope everyone at NYFW right now is staying warm and having a great time! Wish I were there!

Hello, Framboise x Banana Republic Hello Sloan

Sloan Sheath Banana Republic

Hello Sloan

Sloan Sheath Dress
Dress: Banana Republic "Sloan Sheath" c/o | Jacket: ZARA | Shoes: L.K. Bennett | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Bag: 3.1 phillip lim, available at Barney's or Otte NY (read my review) | Necklace: J.Crew Factory | Bracelets: David Yurman, Ann Taylor | Watch: Michele

New York Fashion Week has begun! I've teamed up with Banana Republic to feature a couple pieces from their Sloan-fit line here. When I initially looked at this pink dress online, I thought it was pretty cute, but I was very impressed with the fit and quality once I put it on. The fabric is nice and thick, so it holds its shape nicely and glides smoothly over curves. The bonus: it has quite a bit of stretch to it, so your movement isn't restricted--great for me whether I'm on my feet in court all day or going out in the evening (or both).

For me, a 00P was a good--although slightly snug--fit compared to other 00P pieces I have from Banana. With a blazer or more conservative cardigan, I think this dress is definitely work-appropriate. If you usually fit well into a particular Banana size, you might want to consider ordering one size up just to make sure the fit is comfortable on you. The only thing I'm planning to alter on this dress is the hemline, probably raising it an inch or two so it's just above my knee, which seems to be the best compromise between work-appropriate and flattering for me.

Dot-Dot-Dot

Anthro Romana Dress Layered

Dress layered for winter

Jimmy Choo Glitter Clutch
Dress: Anthropologie (no longer available, similar here) | Turtleneck: H&M (similar here | Tights: H&M c/o | Sunglasses: Valentino | Shoes: L.K. Bennett | Clutch: Jimmy Choo | Necklace: Ann Taylor | Bracelets: David Yurman, Swarovski, J.Crew | Watch: Michele

It was nice to take a break from work this weekend and catch up with the blog a little. January has been pretty brutal at work after the holiday lull, so there hasn't been much time to wear anything but suits all day and flannel pajamas when I finally get home at night. I'm excited to have a few posts to share with you this week, though!

One of my favorite purchases this winter has been my plain black turtleneck. It's comfy, cozy, flattering, and perfect for layering to make more summery dresses winter-friendly. The Anthropologie dress I'm wearing here is pretty lightweight, but adding tights and a sweater underneath makes it a three- or four-season piece. I could also see wearing it to work like this if I worked in a more casual environment.

Hope you had a great weekend, too!

Weekend Wear: Cargos & Manolos

Zara Leather Jacket

Manolo Blahnik Carolyne

JCrew Tipped Shirt & Statement Necklace
Jacket: ZARA (old, great petite-friendly option here) | Shirt: J.Crew (similar here) | Pants: American Eagle (love these from J Brand--on sale here if you're my size) | Sunglasses: Valentino | Shoes: Manolo Blahnik | Bag: 3.1 phillip lim, available at Barney's or Otte NY (read my review) | Necklace: J.Crew Factory | Bracelets: David Yurman, Tiffany | Watch: Michele

It was an absolutely gorgeous holiday weekend in Colorado, so I decided to ditch my usual boots-and-wool-coat combo for some pretty pumps and my favorite leather jacket when I headed out to brunch (for any Denverites wondering, I went to this lovely place). Hope all of you got to enjoy a long weekend and some warm temperatures, too!
