Petite-Friendly DVF

DVF Wrap Dress Petite

DVF Wrap Dress + Accessories

Diane von Furstenberg Julian Two Wrap Dress

I've always been a fan of wrap-type dresses (I last wore one here), and I loved the idea of someday owning one by Diane von Furstenberg, the creator of the original classic wrap dress. After seeing how pretty and flattering Jean's DVF pieces were on her, I decided I'd take advantage of DVF's Friends & Family sale and try one for myself.

I chose the New Julian Two Mini for a couple reasons. First, the shorter length would make it less likely that the dress would need to be hemmed to more flattering proportions. Second, the description on DVF's website indicated that this particular style ran small. Third, the wrap style makes the fit a little more adjustable if it's not quite perfect. My hope was that that combination would make for a petite-friendly fit, and it did. I was very happy with the length and overall fit, and the silk jersey is very comfortable. I also liked that the wrap stayed put around my chest all day--something that isn't always the case with this style--making it work-appropriate for a more casual day at the office.

  1. The dress looks amazing on you Tam! I've been considering a DVF wrap for a while as well, but honestly, I've been hesitant because I have yet to meet a wrap dress that was flattering. In fact, they all look downright awful. You def. make me want to try one out!

    1. I would really recommend this one! It is my favorite of the several I own. I really like that it stays tied and doesn't gradually start gaping open around the chest area.

  2. Oh Tam you look awesome in this dress! The colour is amazing and beautiful with your hair and skin tone! I once owned a dvf wrap dress too but I fell out it love with the print so I gave it away. If I would ever get another one I think a solid colour version should be a better choice :)

    1. Thank you! I am a fan of DVF's prints, but I love this blue color. It's even richer in person. There was a tomato red color in this style that I bet would look perfect on you!

  7. You definitely made the right choice. This looks SO flattering without being too in-your-face sexy, if that makes sense.

  8. You look gorgeous! The colour really suits you, and with mismatched neutral accessories you've managed make it office-appropriate (so much better than if they'd been the same colour! I must take note), while keeping it joyous. Bravo.

  9. That's beautiful on you. Can you tell me what size you're wearing? I'm looking to buy a DVF online but not sure what size so would love to know what size other petites are buying in various DVF wrap styles. Thank you!
