Black and White and Leopard (Oh My!)

Photos: Katie Derus | Cardigan: J.Crew Crewcuts (similar style here) | Flower Pin: Forever 21 | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Belt: Vintage | Sunglasses: Chloe | Shoes: Ann Taylor | Bracelets: Express, Nordstrom, F21, Common Era, Boutique | Ring: Nordstrom (similar here)

While I realize that fashion and color go hand-in-hand, I also love the occasional black-and-white fashion editorial. Katie almost always gives me photos in color and black and white (and they're always stunning), so I thought I'd share a couple with you. I especially like the contrast and texture in these photos.

Readers, do you like black-and-white fashion photos, or do you prefer color? Fellow bloggers, do you ever use black-and-white photos on your blogs?

J.Crew White-and-Navy Polka-Dot Dress

Photos: Katie Derus | Trench: H&M (similar at ModCloth) | Dress: J.Crew | Sunglasses: Karen Walker Perfect Day | Shoes: Ann Taylor (similar here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar here) | Necklace: Ann Taylor | Bracelets: F21, J.Crew, Nordstrom

This dress became a spring must-have as soon as I saw it at J.Crew. Although I think it's supposed to be just to the knee or even a little higher on the model, I like that it's tea-length on me. Note: I didn't make any alterations to this dress--it just fit nicely off the rack.

Here I'm wearing it with a new Katniss-inspired (from The Hunger Games) hairstyle I've been trying. After these photos, I ended up keeping the braid for most of the day, and it stayed pretty well. It's a cute way to make a side bun, which gives you the perfect opportunity to add some whimsical flowers and bows (like the pink gingham rosette I wore here) to your hair.
